Top Mobiles to Help Your Baby Fall Asleep Faster

Everything about child baubles is really beautiful, from the bright colors to the nice drawings on them. Most babies are amazed by these playthings and most parents agree that mobiles are one of the best ways to get kid to sleep all through the night.

How Do Mobiles Help a Baby Sleep?

If you’re wondering just how to calm a baby to sleep, then mobiles might be your answer. Babies love playing with them, and they also enjoy watching the interactive toys swing in the air. This keeps them calm and they eventually fall asleep.

How to Ensure Baby Sleeps Through the Night

Babies often wake up at night and parents are often stressed about that and they want to find ways to get baby to sleep through the night. For your baby to sleep peacefully all through the night, you need to learn some sleep tricks on how to get sleep fast naturally;

  • Get a sleep pattern – This is done by playing actively through the day and keeping it cool at night. The suckling will understand that night is meant for sleep. This is one of the best sleep tricks for babies.
  • Check your lighting – Teach the newborn to always sleep in the dark even during the day, ensure your curtains are drawn. Alternatively, you can use the sleeping lights.
  • Ensure that they are full and dry. Also, clean the child as it tends to leave them feeling nicer. It is also one of the techniques to put baby to sleep.

Before fixing any mobile to your kid’s crib or playmat, there are several safety tips you might need. They include:

  • The placement of the crib toy should be neutral, that is, not too close to the child and not too far from him – just close enough. Fixing the mobile in the right position is the best way to getting baby to sleep in crib at night.
  • Check whether the mobile has detachable parts which the newborn might pick up. Ensure that it doesn’t contain those because they might chock the baby.
  • Install the bauble according to the instructions given in the user guide. This ensures your interactive toy does not fall and get broken.
  • Unfortunately, most mobiles are made for babies between 1 and 5 months. When your baby starts reaching out for things, it’s time to move the plaything from their crib. They might pull them down and probably get into an accident. You don’t want to see your newborn hurt, do you?

Mobiles to Get Your Child Sleeping

Wondering how to make baby fall asleep with mobiles? Here are some really helpful choices:

Musical Baby Mobiles

There are several types of musical mobiles. Some are more advanced than others in terms of technology giving you interesting techniques to put baby to sleep. Some of these have a sensor that can tell whether the baby is still awake or not. Once the baby is asleep, it automatically turns itself off.

Goki Mobile Dragon Baby Toy

The other type of mobiles are the ones that are fixed on either the stroller, hung on his playmat and on his crib. Most kids stare at these baubles and end up falling asleep. This is a nice way to get the baby to sleep naturally, in fact, it might be the best way to get baby to sleep in crib. This particular toy is made inform of dragons that are beautiful and bright. The wings are also detachable allowing you to modify it once in a while.

Fisher-Price Smart Connect Deluxe Projection

This one is a musical mobile that allows you to change and play music while far away using Bluetooth. It also has a long-lasting battery which gives you service for a while. Your child will get used to the songs on the tot interactive toy, and it will help them sleep easier. These kinds of mobiles also keep the baby busy therefore helping you do your work easily.

Tiny Love Meadow Days Soothe and Groove Mobile

This is a musical toy that has excellent features which include, playing for around 45 minutes without being connected to power. It also comes with a collection of songs and a button to fast forward the songs. There is a volume control button so that you can reduce the volume when the baby sleeps.

Conclusion

Baby mobiles are the perfect invention according to most parents. They keep your child occupied and calm. However, remember the child also needs attention from you, even when he’s not crying. Ensure you get lots of bonding time with your child. And for you fathers out there, why don’t you watch the baby when you get home from work? Let the mom rest, watching a baby the whole day can be very tiring, more tiring than you could ever imagine! Give your significant other some time to rest while you be the super dad. Then, invest in a good coffee maker to give you that pick me up in the morning as you head off to work!

Monster Coloring Page

One of our play trays (see preschool activity trays) for the week was this printable make a monster coloring page. I had these eye stickers that we haven’t gotten around to using yet and I knew this monster canvas was the perfect way to spark my 5 year old’s creativity.

monster eyes coloring page

This activity set reminded me of the printable drawing frames  that I created and that many of you loved to pair with the activities in my Fingerprint Art activity.

Monster Coloring Page

I left the activity tray on my daughters craft table (we LOVE this table) and as soon as she saw it she jumped right in!

The thing with these activity trays is that while I may direct her with an activity idea (monster coloring page mixed with sticker eyes and crayons), but she also gets to infuse her own personality, interests, likes and dislikes. She wanted to add markers to the mix (especially these scented ones that she’s been wanting to try.)

art activity for kids

I know that the Handwriting Without Tears workshop instructor (and occupational therapist) mentioned that we should encourage our children to use crayons more and markers less since children have to work a bit harder to use the crayons therefore gaining more hand strength I still wanted to let her guide her way so that she enjoyed the activity.

Let your kids direct their play and craft time.

printable art activity for kids

The monster coloring page activity gave me about 20 minutes of quiet time at home where I could sit down and grab one of my 4 cups of caffeine for the day in peace. 😉

Definitely an activity well done and the potential for it is so cute.

If you don’t have these sticker eyes then how about using Googly Eyes? It would be just as cute and totally unique? Or how about you throw both of them on the activity tray and see what your child does with it?

If you don’t have googly eyes then don’t stress! Just use it as a coloring page, I bet you it will still turn out pretty cool. Children can create their own eyes. You could add in some glue with glitter and make glitter filled monsters. It would be amazing to see how your younger child does this activity versus an older child. (Try it each year!)

I paired this activity during the week while we read the following monster themed books:

and the Monsters Love School book that we had when we did our Color Mixing Water Activity For Kids.

Best Playdough Recipe No Cook

Learn how to make the best playdough recipe no cook version! In this how to make no cook play dough tutorial you won’t have to worry about a hot stove or your child getting burned. This is a recipe a child can make with you!

When it comes to making playdough, I’m a bit of a snob. I want my homemade playdough to be vibrant, soft, and smooth!

Playdough Recipe No Cook

We have a cooked playdough recipe that we love, and a special recipe for making extra vibrant playdough, but one thing that I don’t like about those recipes is that they require the use of boiling water or they must be cooked on the stove.

When kids are making play dough, I prefer them to use ano-cook playdough recipe. But the trouble is, a lot of times these alternative “no-cook” playdough recipes still require boiling water. Instead of cooking on the stove, they use boiling water to cook the play dough off of the stove, but the dough is still intensly hot!

That doesn’t work for little fingers who want to make thier own dough!

Learn how to make this playdough recipe no cook easy homemade version.

I needed a play dough that was a true heatless playdough recipe, and after a bit of experimenting, I’ve found a recipe that works for us!

This heatless playdough recipe is similar enough to traditional playdough that it satisfies my kids, and my particualr playdough needs at the same time. And best of all, kids can make it alone!

playdough ingredients

Ingredients per color:

  • 1 tablespoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 a cup of liquid dish soap
  • 1 cup of flour
  • Food coloring

How to Make No-Cook Play Dough

how to make no cook play dough

In a small bowl, mix your ingredients together. We found it easiest to mix the food coloring with the dish soap before adding it to the flour and cream of tarter.

Mix the dry and wet ingredients. A dough ball will start to form.

If your dough is too stiff, you can add a bit more dish soap to relax the dough.

If the dough is too runny, you can add a bit more flour to the mixture.

play dough recipe no cook

Knead the dough for several minutes to completely mix the soap and flour, which will give your play dough a texture that is quite similar to cooked play dough recipes!

The biggest difference between this playdough recipe no cook version and a cooked version is that the flour stays a bit stiff.

Instead of having a creamy texture, the playdough remains a little rough and is prone to breaking a little more than cooked playdough recipes.

heatless play dough

However, it still rolls, molds, shapes, and squeezes just like regaulr dough!

And the best part is, it smells great, too!

Kids will be delighted that they can make play dough all on their own.

If you want a true no-cook playdough recipe, you can’t beat this one!

Environmental Awareness, Quality Education and Sustainable Development Goals

Please note that this post was sponsored by Mattel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you’ve been looking for ways to teach your child about environmental awareness or how to teach your child about quality education and sustainable development goals, you won’t want to miss out on this amazing educational series by United Nations and Thomas & Friends!

Molding our children and teaching them is one of the most important jobs we have as a parent. From the moment that they are born, to well through their adult years, your child will be depending on you to give them a basis for learning and education. As a parent, there are times where this is easy and then there are times where outside resources will be needed to help. As long as everyone is working together for a positive learning outcome, what more can you ask for?

teach children about environmental awareness

How to Teach Your Child About Environmental Awareness, Quality Education and Sustainable Development Goals

Your child may not know about all the varying levels of education throughout the world. Luckily, Thomas & Friends has partnered up with the United Nations and Olivia Wilde to help lead, educate and promote the importance thinking on a large scale about our Earth, rather than just what’s happening in our own home.

Part of educating your child is showing them examples, right? This campaign has created 6 videos that parents and their children can watch together to then talk about what Sustainable Development Goals are and how they can start to implement them together as a family. Go to the All About For Global Goals page to watch these well thought out videos that include Thomas & Friends.

You can learn more about the campaign in the video below:

The videos are about:

  • Quality Education
  • Gender Equality
  • Clean Water and Sanitation
  • Sustainable Cities and Communities
  • Responsible Consumption and Production
  • Life on Land

Every video was created to help encourage families to think on a larger and more global scale. Plus, they are fun with songs and different adventures to actually help your child understand what they are talking about as well.

Once you and your child have watched the videos, there is also a website available that is jam-packed full of fun resources and topics ideas to talk about including family activity ideas to follow each of the above six videos.

Playful Learning – Cleaning Water

One of the videos talks about the importance of having clean water and sanitation. While we are all fortunate to have that on a daily basis without worry or thought, there are millions of people in the world who are not as lucky.

My child and I went to the website and read all about clean water. It was extremely informative and there was a simple yet interesting activity listed below the video that I knew we had to try! It’s important for me to show my child in detail what we’ve just spent time watching and reading about!

learning about clean water

Supplies Needed for Clean Water Experiment

  • coffee filter
  • sand
  • jar
  • bottle full of dirty water (let your child make up some mud water, they’ll have a blast!)

preschool science experiments

Yep, go ahead and let her mix that muddy water!

Steps to create clean water

Before starting the process of cleaning the water, ask your child whether she would ever want to drink that water? Why not?

Then, explain how some people don’t have any other choice but to drink water that looks like this.

Once you have your discussion, it’s time to start doing the steps to try and clean the water.

Place the coffee filter over an empty glass. Use a rubber band to secure the coffee filter. Now pour water slowly through the coffee filter (on top) and watch it drip down.

preschool activities

Give your child the bottle full of dirty water and have them slowly pour that over the coffee and sand filter that you’ve created.

Then, it’s time to watch and discuss.

environmental awareness

Questions to ask your child could be:

  • How different does the filtered water look now compared to how it was before?
  • Do you think that this looks clean enough to drink or should you run it through the filter again?water experiment

If you have an older child who is extremely interested, you can even do this experiment happening with other variables besides using the sand. Test with gravel instead of sand, or try using a paper towel as the holder instead of a coffee filter. Then, talk about the differences as well!

Quality Education

quality education

We have been making our way through each of the sustainable development goals. Each week we are focusing on one video and working on some activities to encourage understanding on that particular goal.

For the quality education goal, I was a “student” in my 5 year old’s class. She taught me, as well as all our “classmates”, all about puzzles and how to put them together. She explained how you know a puzzle piece is a corner piece (2 flat sides) and how you know a piece is a side piece (1 side).

Explain to your child how not every child in this world has a free education nor access to schools. My older two children had seen this first hand when we lived in South Africa. Many of the children who lived there did not go to school and in some areas, the schools weren’t organized at all. This is a good discussion to have when you are traveling to other countries.

Questions to ask:

  • Do you like school?
  • What would you do the whole day if you didn’t have a school to go to?
  • Where would you learn?
  • If you don’t have a school, how can you help teach those around you?

Environmental Awareness – Responsible Consumption and Production

Did you know that if you use a plastic straw, this straw “lives” on the earth for up to 200 years. Something that you use for literally not even 5 minutes has a lasting effect on our planet. There are small ways that we can make a difference like using a paper straw instead of a plastic straw. Nurture environmental awareness habits in your child when they are young so that we can all join in on these sustainable development goals.

This is one of my favorite sustainable development goals to work on. Once you teach a child about environmental awareness you can be sure that your recycling bin at home will be used a lot more.

Showing a child an online video showcasing where their trash is going is a huge wake up call, not only for them but also as a reminder for us as adults too. We need to take responsibility for what we are using and what we are throwing away.

Discussion questions:

  • What are some things that we use at home that we often throw away?
  • Can we change this by using something reusable?
  • If not, can we find something to take its place that is recyclable?

When it comes to educating your child about the variances throughout the world, talking about sustainable development goals is key! Education begins at home and these 6 videos and learning activities are a great educational resource.

environmental awareness

Don’t forget to check out the All About For Global Goals activity page to find all the videos! This is a great educational campaign to incorporate into your home and classrooms.

How To Journal With Erin Condren Life Planner

Learn how to journal with the Erin Condren Life Planner. The horizontal life planner makes for a perfect daily journal.

I want to remember these moments forever… I want to cherish them, I want to feel them, I want to be taken back and the only way I know how… is to have a picture, smell or writing that serves as a reminder of this particular moment in time.

Please note that I received the Erin Condren journal’s for free.

Erin Condren

Since being introduced to Erin Condrenn last year I have absolutely loved her products. Her daily planners, also called life planners, are versatile and can really put my year in perspective. Did you see my blog post, Erin Condren Life Planner To The Rescue ? It explains to you exactly how I learned to multi-task without filling my brain with tons of chaos.

If you’ve been following my blog or Instagram for a while then you know how big I am about journaling. From our nightly Question Of The Day For Kids journal, our yearly MomAgenda School Years Journal and my reading journal (which you haven’t seen yet)… I definitely have many journals going on all the time but they each have a different purpose.  They each keep specific memories that I can compartmentalize and always bring back whenever I need them.

Not only do I journal as a family and with my kids, I also have my own personal journal that includes a small snippet of my day.

I have been using the Erin Condren horizontal life planner for daily journaling. I use my Polaroid sticker camera to print out pictures that I stick on.

How to journal with the Erin Condren planner:

You purchase a horizontal Erin Condren life planner.

I love these pens for journaling and use them for most tasks at home. Unless I need erasable pens and erasable markers. I’m a very visual person and for me, a picture can totally take me back to a particular moment. I got this sticker printer for printing out images. The quality isn’t that great but the convenience sure is wonderful.

This polaroid camera is also great for when I need a quick pic on the go and don’t want to have to go through a process of phone to app, app to printer.

How to use polaroid zip printer to print out Erin Condren Life Planner pictures?

  • You use an app called PicCollage.
  • You then set the image size as 3:2.
  • Add in your images.
  • Save.
  • Make sure your Polaroid Zip printer is on.
  • Then go into the Polaroid Zip app and print out the image.
  • Cut the image on the line and you now have two perfectly sized pictures perfect for your Erin Condren daily planner.

How I want to use my Erin Condren Life Planner to Journal

Another way I wanted to use this life planner is with my children. I plan to give each child a week where the journal is for them to jot down. I will include everything they will need for the journal and we will get to see the week through their eyes. I think that would be SO incredibly special.

Erin Condren Life Planner To The Rescue!

Want to know how to be an organized mom? Erin Condren created my new secret weapon to being a multi-tasking queen. It is the Erin Condren life planner! Bye bye post it’s and a brain filled with 20 things to remember for each of my kids.

best planner for moms erin condren

Please note that I was gifted the Erin Condren planner in this post without any need to post. All thoughts and opinions are honest an my own.

I’m a paper and pencil kinda girl… I mean, I love my technology but often times technology makes me feel like I have MORE on my to do list, rather than less. What is it about the act of writing things down that can sometimes soothe the mind?

Erin Condren

I received my Erin Condren journal last year thanks to the kind folks at Erin Condren!  I had seen these planners around for a long time and it always caught my interest. I have always been a planner girl, all the way since middle school when our school gave us something called a binder reminder. It was provided for the benefit of helping children remembering to do their homework for multiple subjects, but it soon became my life planner. I couldn’t believe how organized life felt with a daily planner.

For the past few years I have been using a MomAgenda planner and it was really great. It worked well for my purpose, the only thing it was lacking was a pop of color. This year I tried an Erin Condren life planner and I have to say, I LOVED it.

I got one Erin Condren Horizontal planner and one Erin Condren Vertical planner with the intention of using them for different purposes.

The horizontal planner was to be used for journaling and memory keeping. I need that peace at night. I need that time to reflect on my day, to absorb my thoughts and feelings and to be able to remember small snippets of my day that could easily be forgotten. Throw in some fun picture printers like this sticker printer or this polaroid camera and some fun pens and you’re good to go!

Learn how to journal for moms with the Erin Condren planner here, but for now let’s go back to learning how to become a multi-tasking queen.

I previously spoke about this planner in the family gift ideas post because I do believe it encourages family togetherness… just make sure to slot in special activities to do together.

Erin Condren Life Planner

When searching for a life planner, I needed to make sure that I had something that could be adaptable to my particular needs. I need my daily planner to organize my personal life, my kids activities and my blogs daily to do list. Plus, I needed space to work out my meals in advance. It’s always helpful to know what to cook each day of the week and makes me a lot more productive.

My absolute favorite pages are the monthly planner pages… the ones that you can see your calendar at a glance. I think that if I just had a monthly calendar, that could be all I need in a planner. Sure, the daily planner pages are used a lot too… but this month at a glance is everything for me, especially when it is completely filled to the brim!

When using my daily planner I prefer to use my FAVORITE erasable pens and erasable markers. This is so helpful so as not to life any pen scratches in your Erin Condren life planner because you’ve changed or re-scheduled something.

I have a million packs of these at home and am always buying more. They have been a game changer for my mom life!

At the back of each month, there is this blank page with circles. I use that to write out which books I have read for the month.

Size wise, the Erin Condren planner is portable enough especially when you add the sleeve/bag.

I love that the planners can be personalized, come in a variety of different styles including a rose gold planner too! The coils can be different colors, which is always a pretty change.

Erin Condren life planners come with

  • monthly quotes
  • dividers in the journal
  • extra blank pages
  • planner stickers
  • year at a glance page
  • monthly at a glance pages
  • and more!

Have you seen their teacher planners? They are AMAZING too!! What a special gift that would be, to give to a sweet teacher in your life.

Here are some items that pair well with these activities. You will use each of these items over and over during all my printable preschool activity packs.

The Turkey life cycle is really interesting and is a great showcase of a child being nurtured by it’s mother. Children will learn about how Turkey’s are a bird. They start as an egg and grow inside this egg. Once they are ready, they hatch.

How amazing is that whole process? I am always blown away by life cycles. Sure, we do growth cycle of plants, like the Pumpkin Life Cycle, but for me… nothing can be more interesting than a living creatures life cycle. Each creature’s life begins differently in many ways. In the Life Cycle Of A Frog  activity pack, we learned that frogs begin as tadpoles. In the Bat Life Cycle Facts For Kids activity pack we learned that bat’s are nocturnal animals. There is just SO much to learn and I swear, my 5 year old daughter just eat’s up these activity packs. She has wonderful knowledge of life because we go through these type of packs.

She asks a ton of questions so I know that she is really absorbing what she is learning. She always has fun information to take back to her peers are her preschool.

You can be sure that there are many activities for preschoolers in this pack including your favorite Do A Dot pages, information cards, alphabet cards, math cards, 3 part cards and more.

There is also a sequencing life cycle activity that can be re-used using velcro dots.

Beaches Moms Social Media On The Sand 2018

This year was a year of invitations, a year of inspiration and a year of newfound goals and determination.

Beaches Moms

Disclaimer: Please note that I paid a conference fee and received a discounted stay at the Beaches Turks and Caicos resort. All flights were paid for by ourselves.

We got invited to the 2018 Disney Social Media Moms conference earlier this year and I loved it.

My friend, Carolina King at Mama Instincts had mentioned the Social Media On The Sand conference that she attended last year and said I should apply because it was AMAZINGy.  I didn’t think I could get lucky twice in one year… but then, magic struck twice!  I found this e-mail in my inbox in April!

I immediately perused YouTube in order to find more details about the Beaches resort. To put it mildly, I was blown away by what I saw.

An all inclusive resort that included water sports, food, drinks, games, tips and that’s just half of it! It sounded too good to be true, especially after looking at that gorgeous water color and sand.

Grace Bay Turks and Caicos is GORGEOUS. Pictures cannot do justice to the natural beauty of amazing beach.

grace bay turks and caicos

After watching the videos and seeing the pictures, this is how I envisioned myself:

beaches turks and caicos

After paying our deposit, working out the technicalities of a 5 person room reservation and planning our flights (airfare was really expensive and a large part of our holiday cost) we were excited and filled with anticipation.

Leading up to the event we received a lot of fun surprises in the mail from the Sandals Turks and Caicos #SMOTS sponsors.

I had so much of fun shopping and finding the right outfits for our trip. (You mainly need a ton of swimsuits and cover ups with the odd smart casual outfit thrown in there for dinner. I didn’t even wear jeans once!)

I will be breaking up our trip to Providenciales Turks and Caicos into three blog posts so that I don’t overload you with pictures.

Post 1: Beaches Moms Social Media On The Sand conference. That’s the post you are currently reading.
Post 2: Beaches Turks and Caicos Reviews From Our Family – this includes a trip report.
Post 3: 20 Reasons Why Kids Love Beaches Turks And Caicos – this one is told from the perspective of a child.

Social Media On The Sand

Day 1:

Check in for the Beaches Moms Social Media On The Sand event began at 11am and carried on until 4pm.. My kids spent time at the pirates waterpark area while I checked in.

I definitely wasn’t expecting this much SWAG (gifts) and I have to say, I received more gifts at this event than I’ve ever received at any other conference. There were some REAL treasures including an Instax camera! We also got gorgeous dresses from Lands End, a hat to protect us from the sun and a water float.

Providenciales Turks and Caicos

We were offered non-alcoholic beverages and some finger snacks.

The welcome party began on the dock and it included a sunset cruise. This is where I met so many of my blogger friends, many of whom I hadn’t yet met in person before.

/ Green dress outfit from Cabana Life /

There was a DJ and a lot of dancing set amongst the calm blue ocean, a serene sunset enveloping and inspiring us and the laughter of newfound friends creating the perfect ambiance.

In the evening we went for the Fish Fry and hung out with friends. The whole fish fry had such a cool island vibe.

My friend, Carolina King @mamainstincts and I had a blast together!

Social Media On The Sand Day 2:

We went to one of the Bungalows where we got a ton of gifts! From sunblock all the way to bags and clothing, Beaches Moms had us covered! I didn’t even have an available finger to take a picture.

We then went for our first interactive experience.  Mine included learning how to make a sand castle.

best resorts in turks and caicos

It was definitely harder than I thought and the waves kept washing it away. To make a sandcastle, make sure you pack it as dense as you can. The sand should be a bit watery so that it sticks together. It was really a fun experience and I’m so glad I got the opportunity to try it out. It was something I would never have generally tried out.

We had the afternoon to chill at the resort with our family and then dinner was our family dinner at Kimono’s restaurant.

That evening we went for the Alice In Wonderland Mad Hatter Party

I think there was a great balance of conference activities and family activities. I love that my children and hubby got to enjoy many of the spectacular events too.

I truly believe that my children also work hard on my blog, so to see them get gifted for their hard work and posing for pictures makes me feel truly happy inside.

One of their favorite parts of this event was the tie dye hands that got painted on their hands. It looked awesome and as a mom, I was so glad that it washed off so easily too!

Social Media On The Sand Day 3:

This was our conference day. I woke up bright and early and this was what I got to see:

I love how we had special surprises ALL the time… it was so exciting to see what we got and I mean, how gorgeous is this yellow? Especially when you add it to the blue jumpsuit that I was wearing.

blogger conference fashion

/You can find the striped jumpsuit above here. /

First we heard from Maria Bailey, who is so spunky and inspirational.

Then we heard inspiring stories from some wonderful speakers, some of which included Rebecca Minkoff, Alli Webb (the owner of Dry Bar), Julie Colie, Holly Robinson Peete and Adam Stewart.

Did you know that Beaches Resorts cares about the environment and is changing all their plastic straws to paper straws? A plastic straw that you use for 5 minutes can live for up to 200 years on the earth! This is such a wonderful change that I hope to bring home with me too.

We then had a gorgeous beach view lunch at the Schooners restaurant.

Then it was time for Cabana chats.

strollerinthecity

I met Brianne Manz from @strollerinthecity and Julia Furlann.

Social Media On The Sand Day 4:

The next day we got to learn more about The Sandals Foundation and how they are helping rebuild the local school that got damaged from Hurricane Irma.

Before we got to Beaches Turks and Caicos we were sent an empty bag that we were supposed to fill with school supplies to donate.

sandals foundation

On our last day we got to paint the local school and this was one of my favorite parts. I helped paint the stairs and the hopscotch.

We also had a bunch of time to explore the resort and visit one of the four pools.

/ My blue swimsuit top can be found here. Shorts can be found here. The kids outfits are here. /

The last event, the pool float party was truly magical. I have never seen so many pool floats in the pool at once and it was so exciting for the kids and I.

xorachelpitzel

I also met my Instagram friend @xo.rachel.pitzel

The whole event was magical. Thank you to the Beaches Moms team for putting together the most amazing event!!

As a blogger, I feel truly blessed for all the experiences we are open to receiving. I love meeting new people, making new friends and seeing the world with my children. My husband and I are already planning our trip back to the Beaches Resorts Turks and Caicos. We definitely wanted a few more days (years haha)!

Pumpkin Patch Shape Matching Mats

Who said pumpkins have to be one particular shape? A great way to learn a variety of 2d shapes is with these fun Pumpkin Patch Shape Matching Mats. These mats can be used to help children learn to recognize the different shapes as they match the colored pumpkins to the ones in the pumpkin patch.

PUMPKIN PATCH SHAPE MATCHING MATS

These pumpkin patch shape coloring mats are great for kids who enjoy learning about shapes. They can practice learning their shapes while building their fine motor skills by cutting and pasting the matching shapes. Make it reusable by using velcro dots.

We love working on shapes using my 2d shapes worksheets and the 3d shapes worksheets activities pack (for more of a challenge). I also love theming our activities to the current season. That’s why the adorable pumpkin patch is the perfect addition to our Halloween activities for toddlers.

Materials Required:

Please note that affiliate links are used in this post.

Here are some items that pair well with these activities. You will use each of these items over and over during all my printable preschool activity packs.

This Pumpkin Patch Shape Matching Mats printable pack contains 2 printable mats.

In this printable pack, children will be introduced to eleven different 2d shapes. They are:

  • Circle
  • Diamond
  • Hexagon
  • Octagon
  • Parallelogram
  • Pentagon
  • Rectangle
  • Square
  • Triangle
  • Rhombus
  • Trapezoid

To prepare these Mats:

Once printed out, cut out the colored shapes and laminate them as well as the two pumpkin patch mats. Velcro dots can be placed on the shapes on the mats as well as on the back of the shapes.

Ways to use these Mats:

  • Laminate the mats and have your child decorate the shapes on the mats with a dry erase marker. They could also practice writing the name of the shapes as well. This is a great idea if you have multiple children and wish to reuse the mats.
  • Use playdough to create your own shapes and place these over the shapes on the pumpkin patch mats
  • Laminate the mats and have your child place the included shapes onto the correct shapes on the pumpkin patch mats.

This printable pack only comes in black and white but can also be found within our Halloween bundle.
